Description
What variant of Codex are you using?
CLI (codex-cli 0.145.0-alpha.2) on Windows.
What feature would you like to see?
Please make user prompts and Codex responses clearly distinguishable in the interactive CLI transcript.
In long sessions, a user question and the following assistant response can visually run together, making it slow to scan the conversation and verify what was asked versus what Codex answered.
A terminal-native solution could combine one or more of:
- stable role labels or prefixes, such as
YouandCodex - a clear divider or consistent spacing at each turn boundary
- subtle, accessible role-specific styling that remains readable in common terminal themes
- optional configuration for users who prefer a minimal interface
The goal is not a full-screen replacement UI: it is faster visual parsing of a normal terminal scrollback while preserving native selection, copy, and scrolling behavior.
Additional information
This is a usability request from a Korean Windows CLI user who frequently reviews long conversations. Clear turn boundaries would reduce mistakes when following multi-step work.

(response from codex)
Closing as a duplicate of #8782. Both request clear visual distinction between user prompts and Codex responses in terminal scrollback; the Windows examples and accessible label suggestions here fit that tracker.
