[Windows][GUI] Cannot create a task in a USB-drive project after reconnecting the drive #41508

Open

Description

@denys-volodarskyi

Summary

If ChatGPT is launched while an external USB drive containing an existing Codex project is disconnected, reconnecting the drive does not refresh the project's folder state.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Store a Codex project on an external USB drive.
  2. Close ChatGPT and disconnect the drive.
  3. Launch ChatGPT.
  4. Reconnect the drive without restarting ChatGPT.
  5. Select the existing project and try to create a new task.

Actual result

The project and its existing tasks remain visible, but creating a new task fails with:

This project folder was deleted or moved

Expected result

ChatGPT should detect the reconnected drive and allow a new task without restarting.

Impact

Restarting is not practical while another task is running.

Environment

  • App: 26.825.4187.0 (x64)
  • OS: Windows 25H2, build 26200.9278
  • Storage: External USB drive
