}What issue are you seeing?
During a single Codex session, the 5-hour usage limit was consumed at an unexpectedly high rate.
The session contained only 2 user prompts and lasted roughly 26 minutes, yet the 5-hour usage meter went from approximately 0% used to about 86% used.
The session rollout reports approximately 7.96M cumulative tokens:
~7.90M input tokens
~7.69M cached input tokens
~62K output tokens
The second task alone accumulated approximately 5.26M input tokens, of which ~5.21M were cached.
The workload was ordinary repository work: first auditing a repository, then implementing a small typed CSV loader and a small unittest suite. There were no intentionally massive generation tasks or long autonomous workloads.
The usage meter increased rapidly while Codex performed repeated tool calls and context processing.
Approximate usage progression:
17:53 — 0% used
17:56 — 8%
17:59 — 25%
18:02 — 36%
18:12 — ~39%
18:15 — 47%
18:16 — 64%
18:17 — 76%
18:18 — 81%
18:19 — 86%
I am sharing the session logs and diagnostics generated by the built-in feedback flow.
Expected behavior: a normal repository audit and a small implementation task should not consume almost an entire 5-hour usage window in roughly half an hour, especially when the overwhelming majority of accumulated input tokens are reported as cached.
Please investigate whether repeated cached-context processing during tool calls is being accounted toward usage as expected, or whether there may be a metering issue.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Uploaded thread: 01a09632-a2b8-7530-843d-092b7a2456b7
What is the expected behavior?
The 5-hour usage limit should decrease proportionally to the actual workload performed.
A short Codex session with only two user prompts, mostly involving repository inspection, file parsing, and a small implementation with tests, should not consume nearly the entire 5-hour allowance within about 26 minutes.
Cached input/context reprocessing during tool calls should not cause disproportionate usage depletion compared with the actual user-visible work performed.
Additional information
The built-in Codex feedback flow was used to upload the current session logs and diagnostics.
The relevant thread ID is: 01a09632-a2b8-7530-843d-092b7a2456b7.
I also inspected the local rollout telemetry, which showed approximately 7.96M cumulative tokens for the session, with about 7.69M reported as cached input tokens.
The 5-hour meter increased from roughly 0% used to about 86% used during the same session.
This issue appears similar to previously reported usage-limit problems, but I am filing this report because the current session includes detailed diagnostics and reproducible telemetry from Codex 0.154.0.

Dude, seriously? Just stop for a second.
You’re over here screaming at the tool when you’re literally shooting yourself in the foot.
First off, quit using a massive, expensive flagship model for dead-simple edits and scaffolding. Just drop down to "Astra Light". You’re nuking your own quota and wondering why it’s crawling.
Second, your context window is drowning in "absolute garbage". You’ve got giant diffs and LITERALLY raw terminal output from two hours ago still sitting in memory. Just run
/compactand clear the room out. It takes half a second. And please, go skim the actual OpenAI docs before treating the repo’s issue tracker like your personal tech support. Clear your buffer, pick the right model, and stop making this way harder on yourself than it needs to be.

@brolabitalia people are arguing there are on-going changes regarding limits on daily basis -
@brolabitalia I am considering repurchasing , a Plus sub (which is subjected to the 5-hours limits) - overall I did had the chance to use Gpt Astra 6 , and it was nice - very worth of the gpt 6 - I said it and I said it before even gpt 5.6 was worthy of the gpt 6 title.
as people read Dario Amodei - I will respectfully continue with my pointless essy
As the techology progress - in the modern age - you expect the power grid and electricity to get cheaper - yet it doesnt -
and with the general hope - once the water is used - you dont need further chemical treatment.
a bit sad that we never seen this scale of loans, about 9x-20x times bigger than any big investments we seen before - which I am fine with people getting their cut - yet it doesnt push bad actors. and the enemies are the powergrid and the slow semiconductors indurstry. if 5nm is possible today. we should have been there 20 years ago, before windows 2000 was even a thing . And there are the big projects like water sea cables, which frankly -- no one can take for granted - the low latency - 0 jitter. and R&D does indeed provide jobs and industries.. And business is cruel, and you are not going to be limited to a business the same way you are limited to the local grocery store and those struggle too. As low wage people rather be on their phones at work- which is different in a world we lived without phones and computers - atleast to the same level today. As thats fine and okay as you can find joy and excitement in other aspects of life.. think about Junk Food, how it came from respectable meals - from being able inable for making a proper margin... And I am not saying its not disapointing for being a McDonalds employees - but for example think how damaging it is for the resutrant, if someone leaves.... Think how much additive there is in the food - and even in todays economy they can allow inflations to bite into their profits - until they cant. Think how much you can feed the lowest grade of food to pigs, and for example with Rats, they perfectally can live in the sewage. Yet you dont see rats exctint - if anything you see them the (size of little piglets or cats) - yet in terms of biology - people can endure really bad chemicals too - or live with them. For example there is bad view about microplastics, and the issue is real --- you got the two most common elements found in plastic polymers are carbon and hydrogen.... but also Fluorine (F), which is a very reactive chemical - and could pose damage (all tho I actually support Fluoride in water - and the fact it was reduced in many cities I think is bad) - yet the reality is for many things, they are held to the highest standards. Lets say we only know the last 3000 years. what happen @ 300-600, what happen between 600-1200. a lot happen - yet a lot can be felt like pretty much the same. And sitting here and complain nothing happen in the last 40 years , would be a misinterpretation. But I dont like to think and believe the building grounds where ironically in the year 2005 - Ironically this didnt happen because someone wanted to fix the flaws with CPUs or to create a proper alternative to it - but games wanting better shaders and polygons.... historically you cant talk to the computer and ask it (Is my syntax bad? is my code too big and buggy?) You talk to the computer and the computer talks back to you... !thats new! computers in the past would not talk back to you. A lot of video games are buggy and sloppy by their nature - a good video game developer is a rare talent... If counterstrike is a good game, then its a good game for 2000 years like Chess and Checkers are. And you should not ruin Movement or Graphics too much and piss off people too much.. A lot of games simpley dont have adoption and that fine --- if you cant get the game in the hand of gamers that your issue. Even if people do consume games , and they do. you dont see people speaking outloud to their friends or whatever I played this game. I was so connected and spiritualized by the game story. You dont even see the same thing with Movies this days - yet its more accessible than ever... a lot of movies with good story lines/acting. Yet its so uncommon and a bit cheap - or too cheap... You read a book , should you feel like someone reading it to you. Or you read it in your own style and likeliness. (Some books are instruction manuals, so assume its a different way of reading)...
Some of the best developers in the world right now, are package maintainers in dependencies - people who deal with compilers.
and pretty much maintaince work - if getting excited of your own raw c code. mean anything who knows. if fixing a bug is too exciting - when the product is already functioning and halfbaked. >whoknows<.. managed to pass a int32 value, in another syntax - or a different layout of writing code. Surely is educational... Surely you can feel like a childhood feeling - where you are 12 and you showed the adult what you created, and you are very excited at what you did, and you get obsseded over the ideas... and want more and more. to please and serve -- others. and enhance user expirence based on this very ideas but for example with Chess players they are pretty much only obsessed by winning - sometimes they find joy in educating their own templates and ideas - with the amount of slop made in the word of crazy loads of "chess books slop" basically human generated slop , without the use of AI.
Why Linux considered to be better than FreeBSD. Because breaking Posix is the next generation of specifications. Every feature is debated argued, forked, and competes with.... Because who really care about the first itirations of computers - yet the ideas and new ideas should be revisited...
We made a cuda compilers 20% faster or more optimized. This basically mean. we were just as happy before - and second the old ideas were 20% worse, (think how [Random Hadamard transforms (RHT) to bound block-level outliers) yet its not even GPUs are generals - but some slop new on the silicon level... But pretty much its not the same with Chemistry where any paper (real ones , and the falisified - I want a PHD from talking too much versions) No one could accounted to how accessible Chemistry in every sense of the world. From Synthesis to the Equipment itself - yet with all of it 1800 was the backbone of modern chemistry can be rediscovered --- if 100 years ago it was lack of knowledge, now it is ease its some how premitive -- but I assure you can laugh all day long at some the beliefs - and bad conceptions about many things today are very basic and taken for granted - as they can be very complex...
See Willem Hendrik Keesom. And what he described as superfluid - but most call it Lquid Hellium.
you show to a class of student, in a chemistry -- this is the reaction - Expect a solid based on what we learned
(that being said I think its not great - because with chemistry comes math --- and math should be concepted to the real world -- not to remember the equation - but in a way you could be put in a settings where you can make various kinds of basic understanding )
In the same way a lot of dentists fuck up, peoples fillings despite how much abuse teeth can endure. Despite very clear specifications. For the example of malpractice with dentistry - you should think of it this way - should they be sued in a maximized way - out of ALL OF THEIR ASSETS or JAIL/Prison - in many ways some things should be punished - its not like if you revoked some of this folks license , and the next day they found themselves another way of livlihood that is not Dentistry (I put acceptable error at about 1-to-10 depending of the case) and for other prefessions like checking Anuses for living and checking for rectal cancers - isnt ideal.... some of those folks could get their license revoked - assume the reality is they did a lot of malpractice - even willingly for the sake of keeping the rent for the business clinic - and staff or whatever --- but assume they went out of buisness ... They will never go and admit what they did or make it appear like its vaguely about the patient prior health -- use some bits of truth to make a bigger lie. and in the end will even consider themselves a good doctor... on-the-other-hand how much patients should they visit , when it becames human error - or tiring... yet a lot of it can comes to better structure - not that they are not a million other issues. As for dentistry for example - a lot of it comes to slowing decay - you should go back on your feet - and quickly start maintaining if you didnt before. If you have dentures too - or missing teeth especially .... for the time being you need to study about 8 years for some specialties. Or become a Doctor or a Surgeon - if you are old you became a family doctor later in your career. In what case we consider too much - how do we seprate to book for actions. Certainally a lot of the medical indurstry HAS TO BE memory based, on the literature - technicals details - always going to be debate. As for a Nurse? she need to be technical with her hands and have some motor ablities - like puting a nedle - administrating -- identify signs and report to the doctor (in a Hospital setting) - a lot can get really get in a 4 years, some need to extra 4 years perhaps -- are you can argue it should be embeded in you after so much time.. A doctor is a person incharge of Authority and he can admin the fate based on observation he makes. (atleast 60 years ago) today in a lot of ways its common practice to automatically get a Skin Sample on a suspicious spot . or after a regular blood sample to screen you for something if something changes in the blood test --- in this case it shifted a lot for a knowledge based job - to a job based on identifying and directing to another specialty-doctor..... As for the majours diseases - they cant be cure and heal - as its a developmental thing (in the medical setting of thing you call it Degeneration/Decay) Can you connect nerves? yes you can reattach an hand - after it was removed? partially yes and depends on the time... If someone has ALS - is this practical to make a brain surgery over him? With some paralysis cases , a hand was deattached, and reattached- yet the hand will never functions --- but the brain is very much active - and brain signals are being sent - But are-we really going to have more than 200 doctors/surgeon who can preform such rare practice - no, and further more you got to accept failure rates even in your best talents.... If you can map and extract and label (the same way you can literally Edit Video today) surely you can at the very least map all of the internal organs --- 1. assit the doctor who makes gastrectomy 2. a robot you can map all of the 3d structure (perhaps in the feature the first stage in AI Surgeons will be expirementing with devices/humanoid robots , to automatically do complex sitchs on internal organs too , maybe even gallbladder - and stitches, in the organs next to is no joke )
But honestly you look at organs they are soft... The first stage is segemention and mapping. in a 3d way fashion - each patient is slightly unique - but yet not a whole lot than a Chimpanzee or even a Pig -- (they got gallibladders too) Its a 3d structure... you need to identify the organ you operate... And the next thing is understand where you can make mistakes --- In many places, in some places - from the 20% you gonna have (and report symptoms) it can be 30% of the cases to develop something like (Bloating, frequent bowel movements) -- some actions. some steps -- could results in 70%
1897 | ~100 operations reported | <20%
What hygiene looked like in 1882? (lets say AGI was achieved few years later when it basically dropped to a 5% mortality rate with the discovery of gloves - im joking its much more complex than that --- as complex as it is - you can teach a human to do this steps - the 20% bloating and farting - after the removal a. Either those 20% came in a too late stage b. the next generations of cholecystectomies (and simular sub operations) should be treated -- with some kind of therapy to an excisting organ but you can fix something that degraded/degenrated too much c. You cannot donate a gallbladder by itself considered and debated to be a part of the liver )
Sterlity was adopted. yet many operatd with their barehands. At their prime this were good surgeon. you put them today and I bet some of them can outpreform modern surgeons- if you had a time machine just before they advances in their medical career. and also 100 patients is a crazyyyy number!!! its a big number consider maybe 4-8 people where incharge of this operations.
At the begning - vaccines posed great risk - now they are practically safe --- but on the other hand you see Injection devices that reused between patients (and you ask yourself whats wrong with their logic to even consider such a thing?) But yet today they can develop vaccines for Livestock/animals - and its practically safe and no risks in it.. as safe as they are you dont want to put it outside - pretty much they are prefectally okay... For example Labotomy was not an acceptiable thing to do (yet you look and you get -- "" oh they just seprate tissue from other tissue and it shows great effect (ignore the risk of blindness , and risk to the optic nerve as you literally put a modified Icepick in the eye of the victim) ) yet you see on pictures, perfectally acceptable amount of sterilizations gloves and everything (if it wasnt reused by the Mohel 30 minutes before on another victim, who knows )
what I say here. clearly we seen people lasting a serious Truama in ww2 (served legs limbs, burns) Literally gun bullets to the neck area and head (which are fetal - but some recover). On both sides. Why people cant be Simpleton hobbits, passants who knows, - another point with the cases you bleed to death you can still endure days in certain impacts - so the center of gravity if you lost a leg - you would have die more quickly than those 8minutes of misery.. Therefore humans can endure abuse (also animals and pigs, and rats in the sewege)
maybe claiming vaccines or modern practices saved all of our lifes and each of us hobbits. But what I say is each of has lifes have improved due of it. Clearly 4x times the amount of people than we had even just 60 years ago , and the amount of people - so aspire to be an hobbit and not care... But seriously not having vertically integrated farms - could cause a greater damage than anything we seen before ---- and do be clear, humans are not as powerful as they think they are -- to be clear non of what was possible even in the last 200-300 was ever achieved for the last 50,000 years, and human existed 200,000 years plus... If you had a time machine you could take a Neandretal and have it do the same creative work you can - or assume any amount of about 20k/(20,000) people extracted into the current day and age with the time machine, into 1920 - you perfectally going to see them adopted in the society - yet the current point of time is so unique. So many things enabled people you can for example admire - yet you dont see the discovery of Radio - by various people - and a really bad attempt by Nikola Tesla, to commercialize it -- but not another crafty random serb - which a thing the Serbian academic society did produced many great contributors --- but seemingly no interesting names after 1920. Bring Nikola Tesla - because its a bit of a personallity you can see native to the Balkan even to this day - in his personality , he was a bit naive, liked certain topics a lot, will pretty much think of rejecting money, will think of the greater good - personally I can get a certain vibe - that I get from many modern serb -- to the level to what hobbies they might chose - which is interesting regarding habits - and cultural imprints you can argue stuck for the last 150 years. But pretty much you can argue Nikola was not Hungarian yet a lot of Hungarians actually migrated into the Balkans . histroically speaking most people ate grains and seeds - many could afford meat - but not all --- a chicken can be fed- but you need to structure it in a way its cheap - many of us consume about 1-3 chicken 2 months --- some dont consume the whole chicken and only a single part of the chicken so you need about 8 billion chicken a year in the us -- 27 to 29 chickens are killed per person -- and you also have various quality of the meat --- crazy to think - how it can be cheaper than many other types of crops - and a meat based diet while not the cheapest , can be cheaper than some of the crops used... rather the animal feed - that goes to the chickens or beef -- and even if we live in a world where some family farms that work with one of the big meat packagers - if they are going out of business -- no farmer should have this amount of debt if the buisness does go out of activity - sure if someone go out of business thats fine - but its complicated because its a craft you might inherited -Numbers in farms really dont make sense - its not like you can buy a farm and start a farm (unlike many periods where it was actually attractive, and could mean magins and profits ) the center of gravity is basically staying afloat -- on paper it could make sense paying debt - you cover it over 10 years ... I am not saying make them earn huge margins and profits -- but not a collective risk where 80% of farmers have a really bad time... you can think they are the master of it , Typical beef steer/heifer: about 18–24 months old at slaughter ---- so you assume they know the aspect of long investments ( or that their job is maintaince) --- I am not against competition ---- Alll I say farming is about maintenance
lets put it this way 10% year-to-year price increase in expensive. Does this mean farmers were rich before? At the very least for this sector I expect a more smooth solution - rather than aggressive one...
You cant grow your beef, and you cant become a middle man or a new restaurant owner
--- how much profit you expected to do if what you do is grow flowers for beauty and decorations -- not a whole lot - and its not needed as it is just a commodity --- you can say you have all of this in the exchange of being a little stupid and bloated - how much more food we consume and waste- and how much different type of foods --- which is a more serious issue than someone loosing his farm --- but I hope - maybe there is a very to indurstilize farms - or merge - or by law take rights to the land, and have them employed - or the farms converted into a Vertical business -- (for example some how getting 8x as much cows Thresshod/output per farmer)
they are many many issues with farmers you can look at some fruit farmer who is struggling to even find workers - which is a thing
... the fact you can have a 50 story building, and not a single house. Is up to be debate -- without making senseless bets and other issues to what you going to do with even infrastucture issues like water or sewege -- in a better world many of this tihng would need less maintaince.....
two things of work.
Maintaince/Produce
medical fall under maintaince as the real interesting part in medical is delaying rot/decay -- does anyone really thikn that "research papers" are not a way for passing information or educations (or even disproofs of other people ideas - for whatever foul/nonfoul way)
First we got the press, which made it cheap printing "journals" and books. it was actually fast - but slow -- now we got the internet - and literally almost no one - know how to navigrate huge amounts of cateloglized information (despite things like duplicates/pretty-much-the-same-thing/subcategories / current misconceptions that will be proven in the future to be very false and recategolized)
the only thing that is interesting -- is the commercialization of medicines - and agriculture .. not that its too great who knows -- pretty much is being a 95 year old , fun? No. should we keep and make him 120 years old (not really, but it is challenging extending human life - think about it , this way -- its a real challenge) -- in terms of ideas regarding laws for example "Right-to-die activist Dr. Jack Kevorkian" should you allow patients to request to die (is say no - people dont understand truly what it is to be gone) -- but if frankly you say you are very sick, cant move --- maybe you want some colleague -- to you know.. pull the plug but argue to be clear a lot of this patients dont think clearly - and their actions can be manipulated --- but I am not here to argue its also very expensive live -- you may have ALS, and you are just so afraid to fall asleep and being choked to death - and thats your life after ALS - and it likely costs well over 20,000$ a year, and you dont have a job -- and the household need 2 people of a minimum wage (even after payment on the house was paid) and they are like 85 and dont really consume much (despite that I am pretty sure in Las Vegas casinos its pretty much all 70+ year old seniors I heard).
and even for people who you can consider healthy, pretty much for a lot people many of them. can find a median income or spend a career - because there is a legitimate risk of many jobs not being relevant... and you still need a solution when those people expect to provide to their own kids.
And maybe your kid doesnt need to go to Standford or MIT - or waterloo Canada. But it does certainally help -- on the other hand you have a lot of mouths to feed -you can see a lot of even Farmers live lavish lifestyles - (you will not take a loan - and expected the debt to be forgiven under the title of a stragling farmer) -- and there is the class of middle class - which the first step is maybe lowering the quality of life-- but not go to quickly that the quicklity of life of a straggle czechoslovakian poor Jewish family - with 12 "lot" kids and not a "lot" of feed... Currently Vertical Farming (to some degree in the Soviet Union too - which is super funny considering those ideas and mentality formed before Vertical Farming) - Vertical Farming is the only thing that kept mouths fed... b. All of the farms today - are virtually all industrialized.. And pesticides is an equally good invention (With all of the pesticides you wouldnt euthanize a dying animal) c. Is the produce properly sensitized - No, so instead of a 90% usage of the farm - you expect a 20%? If you can have some kind of Hybrid way where the farm becomes organic - beautiful - but that doesnt scale - the same is correct for off-shore farmers - who live in mexico and farm berries - do you take their jobs? what do you do here in a world whre there is a lot of us-humans us-hobbits. ((StarLink corn controversy: StarLink was given limited EPA approval in 1998))
and I hope all you can afford 2 chickens a week. good day.
yet we understand how much abuse the human body can endure(surgeries ). As with todays standards we are clearly missing out on something with the commercialization of such operations. (some of it you cant control - thats why you should attempt to be, atleast middle class in terms of wealth) --
:)
