Make sessions discoverable without the index #45706

Description

@samodadela

What variant of Codex are you using?

CLI

What feature would you like to see?

I'm syncing sessions using mutagen between the laptop and the PC (working on one side only to avoid conflicts).

The sessions sync list is:

  • codex: ~/.codex/sessions
  • claude: ~/.claude/projects

The issue is that with codex copying the sessions alone isn't enough - it seems there some 'index' file where the sessions are listed, so when I resume it doesn't show the synced sessions. I tried resume --all with mixed results, sometimes I see the session, but it's under a different name, sometimes I don't.

In claude this works - the synec file is enough to make the session appear in claude resume.

So the RFE is: would it be possible to make the session discovery not require the index file?

As an alternative provide a way to sync the sessions.
