Description

What version of Codex CLI is running?

codex-cli 0.157.1

What subscription do you have?

Plus

Which model were you using?

gpt-6-astra

What platform is your computer?

windows 11 home

What terminal emulator and version are you using (if applicable)?

Windows PowerShell: 5.1.26100.9549 (Desktop edition)—the shell Codex uses for commands.
Running Windows Terminal: 1.24.260710001 (product version).

What issue are you seeing?

After the latest Codex update, every shell command executed by the agent briefly opens a separate terminal window on the Windows desktop. The window closes almost immediately. This happens repeatedly during normal agent work and did not occur before the update.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Environment

Windows 11
PowerShell
Observed Codex runtime/command-runner version: 0.157.1

Minimal reproduction

Each agent execution causes a visible terminal window to flash. Running it through Codex is essential to the reproduction; running the command manually in an existing terminal does not test the same behavior.

Expected: Codex captures the command output without opening a separate visible window.

Actual: A separate terminal window appears briefly and then closes.

What is the expected behavior?

    Seeing the same issue - Ctrl+J and Ctrl + ` all having the same effect for displaying the terminal briefly then automatically hiding itself.

    [features]
    daemon_auto_start = false

    Can alleviate this problem

    @dhit-mdavis

    No alleviation for me with that recommendation. Will wait for the next downloadable update.

    We're using #48074 to track, and we have a fix on the way.
