Chrome/Computer Use extension is enabled, but the tool runtime never loads #48813
changed the title [-]Chrome/Computer Use 扩展已启用,但工具运行时始终未加载[/-][+]Chrome/Computer Use extension is enabled, but the tool runtime never loads[/+]on Sep 27, 2026
In the Windows desktop app, the Google Chrome browser extension is shown as “Installed” with a green status, and the control toggles for both Chrome and “Any app” are enabled.
However, when invoking Computer Use or Chrome in a chat, the agent consistently fails to detect the required browser control/Node REPL runtime. I have created at least 4 new chats and fully restarted the app multiple times, but the issue remains consistently reproducible.
Actual result: No Chrome control interface is available in the session, making it impossible to connect to Chrome.
Expected result: Once the extension is enabled, new sessions should load the Chrome control runtime and connect successfully.
Please investigate failures in the desktop app's plugin tool injection, extension handshake, or session capability loading. In this session, mcp__node_repl__js was also missing from the tool list.
