What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Powered by Codex & OWL Versión 26.930.31730 Lanzada el Oct 2, 2026

What subscription do you have?

What platform is your computer?

15.7.9 (24G830)

What issue are you seeing?

write_stdin rejected: approval required by policy, but AskForApproval::Granular.sandbox_approval is false

Pasos para reproducir:

  3. El proceso site-workflow.mjs muestra “Ready for Site workflow JSON on stdin (input is hidden).”

What steps can reproduce the bug?

What is the expected behavior?

    What issue are you seeing?

I am using Codex for Mac with the Sites plugin. I have a published educational app and need to update it to complete the student groups.

When trying to sync the code, Codex repeatedly receives this error:

write_stdin rejected: approval required by policy, but AskForApproval::Granular.sandbox_approval is false

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Request an update to an existing site through Sites.
    2. Grant the requested network and project write permissions.
    3. The site-workflow.mjs process displays “Ready for Site workflow JSON on stdin (input is hidden).”
    4. The next step, write_stdin, is rejected with the error above.

    Expected result:
The sync should be able to continue, or an approval request that I can review should appear.

    Observed result:
The operation is rejected without displaying a request that I can approve. This prevents updating and publishing the app.

The problem persisted on October 4, 2026.

    What is the expected behavior?

I expect Codex to be able to continue syncing and publishing the site changes after I grant the necessary permissions.

If the operation requires additional approval, a request that I can review and approve should appear, instead of rejecting it without offering that possibility.

The problem occurred repeatedly on October 3 and 4, 2026, using Codex on macOS with the Sites plugin.

The requested network and project write permissions were granted, but write_stdin continued to be rejected.

The published site continues to work and allows changes to be saved through its forms. The block affects the code sync needed to update it and publish new features.

I am not attaching project files or student data because they contain personal information.

I’m using the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS. The “About ChatGPT” dialog shows:

    Powered by Codex & OWL
    Version: 26.930.31730
    Released: October 2, 2026

The issue still occurs in this version when updating an existing site through the Sites plugin.

    @The-tradeguru

Additional macOS reproduction on October 8, 2026, with the Sites plugin (0.1.75): creating a new public Sites project succeeded, but the required site-workflow.mjs handoff could not complete. The write_stdin call used to pass workflow JSON was rejected because AskForApproval::Granular.sandbox_approval was false, and no approval prompt appeared. The Site remains at version 0, with no saved versions and no live URL.

This affects initial publication as well as updates to existing Sites. Expected: the app should present an actionable approval request or provide a supported publishing path under the current permissions. No credentials, project IDs, personal paths, or private content are included here.
