Windows dot-created local tasks appear in sidebar only after opening from Completed #52231

App: 26.1002.52244

Platform: Windows; exact OS build not collected

A successfully completed local task created by my dot didn’t appear in the desktop app’s left sidebar. It was visible under my dot’s profile → Completed. Opening it there added it to the sidebar.

Observed sequence on October 8:

  1. Ask dot to create a task on the connected Windows computer.
  2. The task completes successfully, but isn’t visible in the sidebar.
  3. Find and open it through the dot’s Completed activity.
  4. It now appears in the sidebar.

The task and its results weren’t lost. I’d expect tasks to be discoverable in the sidebar without opening each one through Completed. If this is intentional, clearer UI guidance would help.

The task had no explicit project association because project discovery failed. Whether that explains the behavior is unknown. I haven’t established reproduction frequency or tested a clean profile.

Related: #51675 reports a different platform/task type with missing sidebar entries restored through individual access. I’m not claiming a shared cause or a connection to the Windows sandbox error.

Closing as a likely duplicate of #51675. I’ve added my Windows observation there to keep the evidence together; this does not mean the bug is fixed.
