Web vs CLI quotas #5783

Description

@techjoec

What is the type of issue?

Documentation is missing

What is the issue?

With the recent web quota changes and combination of cli and web quotas we need clear documentation on costs and unit consumption. Is it more expensive quota wise to use cloud now? How is it billed? Also it is rather frustrating that zero guidance is provided to tune our sessions to be more efficient. Any plans to improve on this or anything OAI can share today to help close the gap??

Where did you find it?

The fact they're combined killed me, especially since it seems the web uses a shit ton of tokens to get things done

Yeah exactly. And the usage stats on the web make me wonder if web is billed more heavily now too. Not complaining really (yet) but transparency would help everyone

I guess they did update the pricing...I missed this news.

    Plus

Usage limits apply across both local and cloud tasks. Average users can send about 30-150 local messages or 5-40 cloud tasks every 5 hours, with a shared weekly limit.
For a limited time, Code Review on your own pull requests does not count toward usage limits.
Best for developers looking to power a few focused coding sessions each week.

So web went from free to 4-6 times more expensive now? WOW...???

Also the web usage is so wonky. It said like 68% (two days into my week :( ) when I posted this earlier, then I ran a few local and web tasks and it now says:

    Weekly usage limit

    78%
    remaining

When I was over my quota it also was up/down over 10% randomly, to the point where my 100% quota let me run a few tasks until it re-adjusted again.
