Codex constantly stucking and reconnecting: stream disconnected before completion: idle timeout waiting for SSE #9727

Closed

Description

@teneko

What version of Codex is running?

0.89.0

What subscription do you have?

API

Which model were you using?

gpt-5.2-codex

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26100.0 x64

What terminal emulator and version are you using (if applicable)?

mintty.exe (Cygwin64)

What issue are you seeing?

occasionally some Ran Get-Content -Path .., some Ran rg -n .. and than nothing. sometimes after many minutes another Ran Get-Content -Path .. or some Ran rg -n .. and then nothing. Sometimes "reconnect...." flickers, but then it disappears and as the counter rises, I will face:

stream disconnected before completion: idle timeout waiting for SSE

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Uploaded thread: 019be80e-4300-7610-91f0-b6c674181ef4

One guess is to big code files. They got bigger and bigger, hitting 1000 lines. My guess is, that there is a problem with bigger code files. When I started from scratch, that problem did not appear.

What is the expected behavior?

After reading content, it should not stuck and reconnect.

Additional information

chatting works ALWAYS. There is another unrelated bug when enabling the create-plan skill, that it ALWAYS create a plan, but when you disable it and paste the pre-created plan from the create-plan skill, then it will actually begin to render a nicely shaped list (summarized bullet points). but during the first bullet point: "Review current validation/planning logic and tests to understand existing constraints" it already has begun to reconnect and magically it finished, without any credit change in the dashboard. then in the second bullet it has thrown the error: stream disconnected before completion: idle timeout waiting for SSE.

Another immediate try where I deleted ~/.codex, re-enabled permissions/approvals to "Full Access":

    Everythings runs sadly into:

I think this issue relates with big changes at once. I noticed when the changes are big then it takes a lot of time where during that nothing is happening, even with maybe one or two reconnections, but once it regained its composure it proceeds in usual speed. I think this can be closed.
