[Bug]: GitLab comments have no link back to GitLab #30409

Open

Description

@TonybynMp4

Area

Pull requests (GitLab provider)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a GitLab merge request with comments in T3 Code, for example TonybynMp4/git-ansible!5.
  2. In the Summary tab, hover or click a comment's timestamp.

Expected behavior

The timestamp links to the comment on GitLab, like it does for GitHub. The tooltip reads "Open comment on host".

Actual behavior

The timestamp is plain text. The adapter sets url: null on every GitLab comment and thread comment, so there is no way to jump from a comment to its note on GitLab to reply, resolve it or see its context.

GitLab notes don't carry a web URL, but every note has a stable anchor on the merge request page: <merge request web_url>#note_<id>, for example !5#note_4154730801.

Impact

Every GitLab comment and review thread in T3 Code is a dead end. Replying or resolving means finding the MR on GitLab and scrolling to the note by hand.

Version or commit

aee76a8b47 (main)

Environment

Linux, web dev build, gitlab.com through glab.

Screenshots, recordings, or supporting files

On main, the timestamp is not a link and has no tooltip:

Workaround

Open the MR on GitLab and find the note manually.
