EXPO iOS Bundling failed 6832ms index.tsx (2181 modules) ERROR SyntaxError in node_modules/react-native/src/private/components/virtualview/VirtualView.js: ';' expected (93:19) match (mode) { #1602
I encountered this and found out that the root cause was that Babel plugins in ~/node_modules/@babel (from
globally installed packages in home directory) were conflicting with my project's Babel configuration.
Check if you have this: ls ~/node_modules/@babel # If this exists, you likely have same the problem
Node's module resolution finds ~/node_modules before the project's node_modules, causing Metro/Expo to use incompatible Babel plugins. Removing them fixes the issue.
