I had other libraries like:
which has peer dependencies for react-native-gesture-handler and these libraires were installing latest react-native-gesture-handler. To check, run this:
npm ls react-native-gesture-handlerTo fix this, i had to add:
"overrides": {
"react-native-gesture-handler": "2.23.1"
}
at last of the package.json file.
NOte: "react-native": "0.74.7",

To anyone running into this issue, just remember the caret
^operator can bump the version you've declared in yourpackage.json. It was happening to me where I had"react-native-gesture-handler": "^2.24.0"but2.26.0would install instead.Ensure you have the correct
react-native-gesture-handlerversion corresponding to yourreact-nativeversion@camboYY removing the caret should solve your issue:
