Which platforms are affected?
Linux (review producer); macOS (independent unchanged browser reproduction and complete frontend CI). This concerns review reasoning about fixture ownership, not an asserted OS-specific JWT defect.
Description
Bugbot reports a medium/100%-confidence finding that a JWT-shaped Authorization assertion cannot pass because the E2E session allegedly contains an opaque placeholder from fakeAuthResponse. The tested initial session is actually generated by Playwright global setup with jose.SignJWT and supplied through storageState. The quoted opaque value belongs to a separate mocked auth-token response, not this initial session.
Consumer: GeckoCV PR #42, analyzed source ceb20097b6e83c7c216b224594f272313640d633.
Finding: 4419364220, review 5706771341, fingerprint fp-e39e236b, semantic sf-37f576e5.
Producer: 40980801180.
Expected: follow playwright.config.ts globalSetup/storageState through auth.setup.ts before identifying the token source for an authenticated request. Actual: the review concludes that the unchanged test fails using a token-response stub that does not supply its initial credentials. This is a verified false premise, not proof of a particular internal context-selection/parser cause.
Reproducing the issue
- At the exact analyzed source, inspect playwright.config.ts: globalSetup is e2e/auth.setup.ts; tests consume the generated e2e/.auth/user.json storage state.
- auth.setup.ts signs a synthetic JWT with jose.SignJWT, assigns that result to fakeSession.access_token and writes it to the configured localStorage state. It sets a session expiry outside the test run; no real provider credential or network call is involved in setup.
- The unrelated fakeAuthResponse is returned only from the mocked auth-token endpoint. Its existence does not establish that the current initial session uses it. This report does not claim that every separate refresh/login mock is a complete provider simulation.
- admin-user-actions.spec.ts checks the JWT-shaped header and then checks subsequent authorization against the actual stored session. It does not require the opaque placeholder.
- With the repository's pinned tools/browser and synthetic E2E environment, run from frontend:
pnpm exec playwright test e2e/admin-user-actions.spec.ts --retries=0 --reporter=json- The unchanged exact-source suite passes all five cases. A fresh independent invocation after the finding completed in 14.041 seconds: expected=5, skipped=0, unexpected=0, flaky=0, runner errors=0. Complete exact-source frontend CI 40980801225 also succeeds. No assertion or fixture value was changed to obtain these results.
copilot Version
Consumer action reference is vypdev/copilot@v3. Producer 40980801180 explicitly downloads f5e5a4cf9a80248994469cd88ad55eecab5b95ca / 3.10.6. This is one old-release observation, not a claim about an unexecuted newer fix.
Relevant Log Output
Unchanged admin-user-actions.spec.ts:
expected: 5
skipped: 0
unexpected: 0
flaky: 0
runner errors: 0
duration: 14041.352 ms
Actual synthetic JWT values, signatures and session contents are intentionally omitted. The source of the value and executable assertions are sufficient to inspect the claim.
Additional context and comments
Suggested regression: a Playwright project with a global-setup JWT storage-state producer plus a separate mocked token-response endpoint containing a different placeholder. Review must distinguish the current credential flow from possible refresh/login paths and not assert a passing test fails without tracing setup ownership. Include a genuine counterexample where initial storageState really contains an opaque placeholder and a three-segment assertion does fail, so improving context does not suppress real fixture defects.
The consumer keeps the correct assertion and requests evidence-based reassessment. No credential, real user data, assertion weakening, fixture substitution, coverage exclusion, threshold change or protection bypass is included. Other genuine review findings have been corrected independently.
