The accept line names two Bots both called Chief, so "Chief is shared back" cannot be told apart #1026
Found while reviewing #1023 (#1000, merge db56b817).
What
The new Add friend lines (plugins/social/client.js:2894-2908) name the joining Bot by its display name only:
You already have Chief (SelfA1233). Chief is shared back, so they can reach you too.
SelfA1233 shared Chief with you. Chief is shared back, so they can reach you too.
Both homes in the self-test bench run a Main Bot called Chief (#994 was filed because a receipt printed the home slug instead of the name), so this line reads as if one Chief were both the friend's Bot and yours. #973/#981 already went to a per-Bot row shape for the same reason.
Expected
The joining Bot is named so it cannot be confused with the friend's Bot — e.g. Your Chief is shared back, which stays short and needs no handle.
Scope
plugins/social/client.js:2894-2908 — the two sharedBack lines.
plugins/social/test/social.test.js — the two copy tables that carry a sharedBack row (#496, #343 / #499).
Not this issue
The behaviour (#1000) and the fallback/sync non-blockings are separate; this is wording only.
Triage at main db56b817: confirmed at plugins/social/client.js:2896-2898 and :2907, both of which print ${sharedBackBotName} is shared back with nothing that ties that name to our side. On the bench both homes run a Main Bot called Chief, so the sentence names the friend's Bot twice.
Fix as written — Your Chief is shared back (or Your Bot … when the name is unknown) — and mirror it in both copy tables. Acceptance: the two lines name the joining side, never a bare name; Your Bot fallback still covers a missing name; the two tables are updated so the suite pins the wording. Wording only, no behaviour, so nochangelog.d/ fragment. enhancement, area:social, area:ui, agent-ready; unowned, same rule.
Claimed — Owner: Dev, branch dev/fix/1026-your-chief-shared-back from main b9a7533b; three files: plugins/social/client.js, plugins/social/test/social.test.js, docs/subsystems/social.md.
What I am changing, as Triage pinned it: both sharedBack lines name the joining side as ours — Your Chief is shared back, so they can reach you too. — and a server that sends no name keeps Your Bot instead of stacking a second "Your". One helper (sharedBackLine) holds the sentence for the re-accept path (client.js:2901) and the new-friend path (:2910), so the two cannot drift apart.
Copy only: same data, same endpoint, same close-on-accept behaviour. docs/subsystems/social.md's #496/#1000 bullet carries the new wording; no changelog.d/ fragment, per the scope on this issue.
done — the four wrap-up checks on the merge commit 3368fa53:
#1026 is closed/completed; Fixes #1026 points at #1034, whose merge commit is 3368fa53 and whose head is still the PASSed 1c402d4c.
On main3368fa53, the change is code, not only docs: plugins/social/client.js:31 carries sharedBackLine (Your ${name} / Your Bot), :2901 and :2910 both use it, plugins/social/test/social.test.js has the #1026 case and both copy tables, and docs/subsystems/social.md:136 states the new wording and why it names the joining side.
No changelog.d/ fragment, as the scope on #1026 said (copy only); changelog.d/ still holds only 1000-…fixed.md and 1001-…changed.md.

The boundary first stated on the PR stands: two different friends whose person name and Bot name are both identical still read the same — that is Granted friend Bot never shows for the grantee: the talk-through grant hides it (regression from the #161 fix) #178 territory.Labels:
