UI: model thinking spinner provides no visible progress indication (just loops back-and-forth for 10-20 min) #26381
When opencode is processing/thinking, the UI shows only a looping spinner animation. It goes back and forth with no indication of:
Whether progress is being made
How far along the thinking is
Time elapsed or estimated time remaining
Any stateful change at all
This is especially frustrating when thinking takes 10-20 minutes — users are left staring at an unchanging spinner with no feedback that anything is actually happening.
Expected
Some form of visible progress would be helpful, such as:
A token count / characters streamed showing output is being generated
Time elapsed since thinking started
A progress bar or step indicator
Even a small animated cursor that shows the model is actively producing tokens
You can show the thinking output with /thinking or by enabling thinking output in the command palette with ctrl+p (default). There is no way to tell how far along the thinking is or when the model will be done.
