Bug: OpenCode throws error when attempting to update mise-managed installations #36572
OpenCode correctly detects that an update is available when installed through mise, but selecting Update now fails because mise is not recognized as an installation method.
The TUI shows a generic Update failed message, while the underlying upgrade request fails with Unknown installation method: unknown.
Is this a related issue? I'm using the OpenCode app in HomeAssistant, which fails when attempting to update itself. Big Pickle found this:
a bug in OpenCode's web UI updater. It couldn't detect that OpenCode was installed via npm to /usr/local (a non-standard prefix). The updater likely only checks the default npm prefix (/data/.npm-global) and doesn't account for custom global prefixes.
Thanks for the report! OpenCode 2.0 is now out and development is focused on V2, so we're closing issues filed against OpenCode 1. Please upgrade (opencode upgrade --major, details: https://anoma.ly/notes/opencode-2-0), and if this is still relevant on 2.0, reopen this issue or open a new one with your 2.0 version.
