id: research: conversation archaeology — prior Drew discussions of Second Life & programmable worlds, tied into this program #5990
Part of the worlds design program: #5955. Statement S108 of the 2026-11-04 brief.
Task (Drew, in substance)
Also look back in our conversations and tie in. We've had discussions about Second Life and a variety of other games with similar concepts, a lot in the early 2000s and late '90s, I want to say.
Mine our own conversation history (the raw-conversation stores — per standing doctrine, the session_v2 store is the live source for recent activity, plus the v1 store for older material) for prior discussion of:
Second Life and any other named virtual worlds / programmable games,
user scripting, bot battles, world permissions, asset licensing, self-hosting — any earlier Drew statements on the topics the 2026-11-04 brief covers.
Deliverable
A tie-in doc: each recovered thread quoted/paraphrased with its date and session reference, and — the point of the exercise — a list of places where the earlier discussion already decided or leaned somewhere, flagged against the current design children of #5955 as consistent, superseded by the 2026-11-04 brief, or in tension — needs Drew. Nothing in tension gets silently resolved by this research; it gets listed.
Done looks like
Doc landed and linked from the tracking issue; every design child with a flagged tension has a comment pointing at the relevant recovered passage.
Expectation: effort class s for this triage; "done" = issue verified open and current, the research scoped into an executable follow-up, and that follow-up enqueued (a second note on this issue records its task id).
Verified current (2026-11-05, fresh gh reads): issue #5990 is OPEN, filed 2026-11-05T05:07:08Z, statement S108 of the 2026-11-04 brief, part of worlds design program issue #5955 (also OPEN, verified). At claim time it carried task/triage + status/needs-triage + priority/low + queue/queued — no hard-stop labels (held, user/owned, do-not-merge, do-not-auto-edit), no competing PR or branch, and no duplicate: the only issue referencing issue #5990 is program issue #5955 itself, and no tie-in doc exists yet.
Routing: this is executable research, not a design pass and not gated on a parent design. Unlike the WS-F follow-on design tickets, nothing here waits on another issue's decision record — the sources (the raw-conversation stores: session_v2 as the live source for recent activity, the v1 store for older material) and the deliverable are both fully specified in the body. It is, however, larger than a 20-minute triage timebox, so this triage scopes it and hands it to a dedicated execution task rather than doing a shallow pass here.
Scoped execution (enqueued as the follow-up recorded in the next note):
Search both stores for Second Life and other named virtual worlds / programmable games, plus user scripting, bot battles, world permissions, asset licensing, and self-hosting.
Outcome: Existing conversation tie-in and decision/tension handling were already present in the current GitHub record; no duplicate doc or comments were created.

The issue stays open, labelled triaged; the research itself is the follow-up task's work. No code or doc change in this triage.
