Codex doctor report
What issue are you seeing?
I use Codex through the ChatGPT desktop app with an SSH server.
My ChatGPT Codex usage dashboard shows available credits, and /status showed 58% remaining in the 7-day limit. However, remote prompts consistently fail with:
“Quota exceeded. Check your plan and billing details.”
I verified that this also occurs directly on the server, not only in the desktop app.
Steps already completed:
Configured passwordless SSH successfully.
Updated remote Codex CLI from 0.144.3 to 0.146.0.
Ran codex logout and codex login --device-auth.
codex login status reports “Logged in using ChatGPT”.
Tried changing the model.
Retried both desktop remote chat and direct server CLI.
Direct CLI reproduction:
SSH to server.
Run codex.
Send: “Reply with exactly: OK”.
Codex immediately returns the quota-exceeded error.
Same issue here: ChatGPT Plus, Codex CLI 0.146.0, usage dashboard shows 58% weekly capacity and available credits, but every prompt returns “Quota exceeded.”
I reproduced it directly on a Linux SSH host after a fresh codex login --device-auth, not only in the desktop app: #36708
