In-app browser unavailable and Chrome extension won’t connect #52619

Open

Description

@chrislsavage

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.1002.52244

What subscription do you have?

Max 100

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

Browser use previously worked for me in Codex but is now unavailable. I’m running version 26.1002.52244 on macOS.
The in-app browser page is visible, but Codex reports that its browser connection returns “Browser is not available” and cannot interact with it. I also cannot connect the Chrome extension. My Mac shows “Connected” in the app.
I’ve already tried:

  • Closing and reopening the in-app browser
  • Clearing cache
  • Disabling and re-enabling macOS Accessibility and screen-sharing permissions
None of these resolved the issue. Several other people I know are experiencing similar problems.
Separately, when dot tried to start a diagnostic task on my connected Mac, it received: “DesktopTaskWorkspaceUnavailableError: The desktop could not prepare a task workspace. Update or reconnect it before creating the task.” I don’t know whether this is related.

Chrome extension reports: native transport disconnected

What steps can reproduce the bug?

try to connect chrome to codex or try to use codex browser

What is the expected behavior?

it works.

I am having the same issue. I did find a temporary workaround. It seems if you tell ChatGPT to use a longer timeout period, it will eventually connect. It took 93 seconds, but it eventually connected.
