V5 live page, slice 1: the page from today's feed (Showcase + The record layout, record figures hidden until sourced) #94

Open

Description

@realRaghavGupta

Slice 1 of #85 (V5: the live page). #85's one run timed out at exit 124 on 2026-11-04 07:23Z with no commits: as one piece it was too big. This slice builds the page from today's public feed. The record's 30-day figures and the seven stage medians are later slices, filed after setkernel-live#93 merges because they need src/. Refs #85 and setkernel/hq#974.

Why

Raghav picked the live page's design on 2026-11-04: Showcase plus The record, with prototypes in hq at docs/design/v5/live/showcase/ and docs/design/v5/live/record/. It is the page a prospective client opens to watch the team work, so it is part of the vision's public face. Splitting it lets the part that needs no new data ship now.

Acceptance criteria

  • The page opens with Showcase's promise ("A software team you can watch at work.") and a "Book a live demo" button that opens setkernel.com's enquiry form (no booking link on a public page). The record's one-sentence record and four numbers have their place in the layout but stay hidden until a later slice sources them. No number is invented.
  • "The team, right now": the plain-words headline, the last 24 hours as one lane per engineer read from the public feed, the CI lane and the Now column. There is no Polaris or director lane; the lanes are the employees the feed sends.
  • Showcase's daily brief example, the "See it live, on a call" block (its button also opens the enquiry form) and the "Demo mode" full-screen dialog.
  • The privacy line from the prototypes' README holds: no private repository names, issue or PR text or numbers, branch names, client names, links into private places, tokens, dollars or per-person usage.
  • Every state the prototypes design (busy, quiet, not reporting, the page's own updates stopped, first load) renders from real data, in light and dark, at 375, 1440 and 2560 px, with no horizontal scroll on a phone. The fonts are the prototypes' self-hosted Google Fonts (subset woff2, committed with their licence), including the Manrope 800 and IBM Plex Mono 500 weights if they're missing. Glyphs are inline SVG.
  • The PR carries before and after screenshots at 375, 1440 and 2560, in light and dark. Existing tests pass. A test is added only where page logic can silently break (the privacy filter, for example), in an existing test file where one fits.
  • The PR body says Closes setkernel/setkernel-live#<this issue> and Refs setkernel/setkernel-live#85.

Files likely touched

  • public/index.html, public/app.js, public/style.css, public/lib/**, public/fonts/**

Not src/**: open setkernel-live#93 edits src/worker.js, and the record's figures are a later slice. Not public/usage/**, which belongs to the usage page.

Risk class

R3: every merge to main deploys live.setkernel.com, and the page is public. Two non-author agent approvals on the head after its last push and green checks; Raghav looks at the screenshots and merges.
