Description
Bugbot review of vypdev/symphonia PR #1 at exact head 0c9cf9bd90e06b78735f87d8e9619a01c394c997 completed 30/30 analysis partitions, published a native review with eight findings, then failed reconciliation. The final projection retains an unlinked unknown finding named Recent operations can be mislabeled as an empty dashboard alongside an open report for the same hasStoredData defect. This blocks trustworthy current-head review evidence even though all seven independent CI jobs pass.
Observed evidence:
- Review run 39614953711, attempt 1.
- Aggregate status comment 6311303070, digest
fa7f43f0. - Earlier native review 5598625567 originally lists Recent operations can be mislabeled as an empty dashboard, at
ui/src/model.ts:73. - Current native inline comment 4335963300 is titled Stored operations and library entries are classified as empty, at the same
hasStoredDatafunction. Its marker currently identifiesui/src/model.ts:72:empty-state-ignores-stored-records,fp-7f4ee259,sf-e10d213e. - The aggregate links that open report, then separately lists the old title as unknown, without a thread link or finding ID. Both describe the omission of operations from the dashboard nonempty predicate; the current report also covers library entry counters.
- Recovery details say: The final provider snapshot omitted 1 previously observed unresolved or unverified Bugbot finding.
- There are 30 native review threads, but state totals are 31 records: open=18, fixed=10, obsolete=2, unknown=1.
- Latest native review 5601409553 exists and lists eight newly reported findings. Telemetry nevertheless reports candidateFindings=10, publishedFindings=0, outcome=failed. A later failed reconciliation may explain those counters; available diagnostics do not identify the individual failed mutation.
Copilot / Reviewcheck 119284037549 is failure, lifecycle blocked. The aggregate outcome is partial, coverage complete. The workflow returns only generic retryableprovider.unavailable, reference4a69d4b2-4f7c-4eb3-afda-d840409d7568.
The conservative failure/unknown status is appropriate when evidence is incomplete. The suspected defect is finding identity/semantic reconciliation and the lack of actionable recovery for the orphan. An underlying GitHub/API outage or exact internal root cause has not been established.
Additional duplicate report groups observed on the same head:
| Defect | Reports |
|---|---|
| Expired lease can schedule retry/rate-limit | Application report and repository report. Both require the same missing live-lease guard in sqlite_operation_scheduling.py. |
| README conflicts with proposed playback scope | Earlier report and later report. Both require the same README/spec clarification. |
The changed locations/titles may explain distinct fingerprints; these are semantic duplicate candidates rather than proof that every pair must be automatically merged. An ambiguous match must remain explicit rather than resolving an unrelated finding.
Two independently verified review-quality false positives are also available:
- Coverage job does not collect branch coverage. The unchanged pyproject.toml declares
[tool.coverage.run] branch = trueand reportfail_under = 85. Verify runs coverage from the repository root, so no explicit --branch argument is needed. Pinned coverage 7.16.1 reports effective branch=True and fail_under=85.0. Independently collected data hasCoverage.get_data().has_arcs() == True; the full suite passes at approximately 87% combined line/branch coverage. - Unread 404 response prevents the next HTTP request. The actual callback handler inherits BaseHTTPRequestHandler's HTTP/1.0 response protocol and closes the connection. The existing real-loopback test passes unchanged on Python 3.13 with socket access. Its second request uses a new connection; the assumed persistent HTTP/1.1 response-state failure is not reproduced.
These false positives are being handled with review evidence and the documented dismissal route; no workflow, threshold, approval policy, runtime permission, or safety gate is weakened.
Reproducing the issue
- Inspect the linked run and exact analyzed head, before applying consumer corrections. Confirm all 30 partitions completed and contextCoverageStatus is complete.
- Compare the earlier review's dashboard title, current inline report, and aggregate's unlinked unknown dashboard title.
- Count native review threads and aggregate state records. Observe 30 versus 31, with the omitted unresolved-record message.
- Inspect latest native review publication versus telemetry and the generic provider.unavailable failure.
- For the coverage false positive, install coverage==7.16.1, then from the consumer root run:
python -m coverage debug config,
PYTHONPATH=src:. python -m coverage run -m unittest discover -s tests -q,
and inspectcoverage.Coverage().get_data()after load() for arc data. - For the HTTP false positive, run the unchanged targeted unittest with real loopback socket permission:
PYTHONPATH=src:. python3.13 -m unittest tests.test_oauth_callback_spike.OAuthCallbackSpikeTests.test_loopback_http_boundary_consumes_callback_without_leaking_code -v.
Suggested upstream regression: replay an earlier unresolved finding that is updated/re-keyed under a new title/location during publication, then make the final provider snapshot omit its previous identity. Assert conservative but actionable state, a traceable old-to-current relationship, no orphan duplicate unknown, no duplicate native publication, and an idempotent recheck. Fault-inject each post-publication provider mutation separately and identify the failed stage/finding/provider status without credentials. This proposed upstream test has not been run in the consumer repository.
Expected recovery: after consumer fixes and documented evidence-based dismissal, one bounded recheck should reconcile the old and current identities, retain legitimate dismissal state, resolve only verified corrections and return complete current-head evidence. If identity remains ambiguous, provide the exact affected finding IDs and supported maintainer action; never silently approve or discard unknown evidence.

Additional context and comments
Consumer is a Python standard-library/SQLite service with Lit/TypeScript/Vite UIs. The PR integrates develop into master and contains 210 changed files. Main/development approval scope is intentional; master being outside automatic guarded approval is not reported as a defect. All seven application CI jobs pass.
The owner explicitly authorized this English report and correction of valid consumer defects directly on develop, while retaining Copilot configuration and AGENTS.md byte-for-byte. Review triage identified 14 distinct valid consumer defects, three duplicate reports (including the unknown dashboard record), and the two false positives above. No secrets, private provider libraries, authentication tokens or raw credential material are included. Please consolidate the overlapping generic diagnostic portion with #646 if appropriate, while retaining the orphan-identity reproduction and review-quality evidence.

Follow-up from consumer head
92e4de85243c54db8fd306b7fd273d1c271e5c7c:The fresh review 39636422716 completed successfully on 2026-10-21 at 16:44:41 UTC. The projection is now outcome=complete, coverage=complete, unknown=0, fixed=26, obsolete=2, dismissed=2, open=7. The original orphan converged after the consumer correction and fresh analysis, and both evidence-based dismissals were retained. All 7 CI jobs pass on this head. This is recovery evidence, not proof of a particular earlier provider/API root cause.
A new, directly self-refuting finding was published in that review:
docs/development/pr1-review-2026-10-21.md:40:regression-case-count; fingerprintfp-44da0876, semanticsf-85657ea9.Copilot / Reviewis neutral / changes-requested. The other six reports are being reviewed and corrected separately; the report does not request weakening the check or ignoring valid findings. Please retain this concrete quality/publication example with the original reconciliation evidence. Review output should communicate a consistent actionable defect or no finding; contradictory prose that explicitly withdraws its own alleged mismatch should not become a new unresolved defect. The consumer's Copilot workflows, policy, threshold and credentials remain unchanged.

A fresh occurrence on a later corrective head provides a more specific publication failure reproduction.

provider.unavailable, reference0390e414-3f38-4592-8531-cbe2a37bbde8.Runtime: vypdev/copilot@v3 resolved to f7f68e6 (3.9.3), Codex/gpt-6-luna, smart effort; self-hosted runner ubuntu-runner-3, group vypdev.
Observed evidence:
The recovery details list these unpublished finding IDs:
copy_execution_state.py:51:stale-time-lease-renewalsrc/symphonia/providers/spotify.py:669:write-capabilities-unprobedcheck-boundary:16-dynamic-importssqlite_plans.py:79:reject-invalid-plan-digest-before-persistinghome-assistant-ui-specification.md:52:avoid-duplicate-safe-area-insetsA concrete suspicious anchor is spotify.py:669: the entire file at this exact head has 212 lines (
wc -l), so line 669 cannot be a current right-side file line. The publisher does not expose the native API response/status, so an invalid-anchor/batch validation rejection is a hypothesis, not an established root cause. The logs expose no evidence that the model analysis service itself was unavailable.Suggested investigation: validate/remap candidate locations against the actual diff before creating a review; isolate a bad comment so it cannot prevent every candidate and resolution from publishing; retain the actual redacted GitHub status/validation message and distinguish publication failure from analysis-provider unavailability. The conservative unknown/blocking behavior should remain.
I am preserving all Copilot configuration and will use the documented single
/copilot recheckrecovery attempt on this unchanged head. This is a publication/reconciliation report, not a request to weaken gates or dismiss unverified findings.efraespada commentedon Oct 21, 2026
Recovery follow-up on the same unchanged head
de340e83b7cd02168c6b0574990ca17b693406fb:This raises a second recovery question: are unpublished unknown candidates durably retained as verification inputs, or can a fresh stochastic analysis drop them when publication previously failed? A completed fresh scan may intentionally supersede prior candidates; however the evidence exposed to maintainers does not show explicit verification of these five, and simply reading unknown=0 would hide them. Please document/verify the intended reconciliation semantics and retain enough evidence to distinguish an explicitly rejected candidate from an omitted one.
I independently inspected all five locations/titles. Each has a defensible underlying issue (dynamic-import guard bypass, stale copy lease timestamps, a digest checked only after insertion, read probes advertising write authorization, and ambiguous safe-area padding ownership), so I am addressing them locally rather than treating disappearance as proof of correctness. The impossible Spotify line 669 remains a location/publication anomaly regardless of the validity of its semantic concern. Full bodies of those unpublished candidates are unavailable from the logs, artifacts (none), aggregate or native reviews.
All Copilot configuration remains unchanged. The successful bounded recovery is evidence of a transient/reproducibility boundary, not proof of the original API failure's cause.

Another conservative/stale verification result on PR #1, now with a directly reproducible implementation/test reference:
Run https://github.com/vypdev/symphonia/actions/runs/39652881320 completed successfully on
f0dba01f3e38d1a3fc4214ff09cb542031da1b18(coverage/outcome complete, unknown=0). It marks three of the preceding four reports fixed but keeps negative retry counter open. The historical finding says parse_copy_progress does not validate retry_attempts. At this reviewed head, copy_checkpoint.py explicitly rejects booleans, non-integers and negative values before returning CopyProgress. Both copy execution entrypoints call that parser before constructing CopyRun/provider work. test_malformed_retry_counters_stop_before_provider_work exercises nine malformed persisted counters, including -100: each remains waiting_user with invalid_copy_checkpoint, and the provider's create/add methods are not called. Full CI passes all seven jobs and 367 Python tests on this exact head.
I have not dismissed the originally valid defect or manually resolved its thread to obtain a green review. The follow-up also reuses the same validated counter accessor at increment time, making the invariant local to the originally reported method as defense in depth. A fresh normal push review will verify that revision.
This may reflect a conservative model verification omission across modules rather than a publisher/state-machine defect; no root cause is asserted. Please inspect the verification evidence/reason retained when a completed full review leaves an outdated original finding open after its stated precondition has been removed. The observed behavior, exact source and regression are provided so maintainers can distinguish this from an uncorrected issue.

Additional semantic-duplicate observation on GeckoCV PR42, source 1b5e3a0ade73d21c749bceba004230fc97f2713e, observed with published v3 f5e5a4c / 3.10.6. This is related evidence for the existing reconciliation scope; no same-root-cause or newer-release regression is inferred.
Two unchanged defects each have two open current native threads:
Both pairs refer to the identical unchanged source file/CSV cases and missing malformed-body rejection. Source f03edef through 1b5e3a0 does not modify either affected test or route. The older cancellation finding ID starts AdminMutationWireContractTest.kt:121:malformed-cancellation-body-accepted; the new one drops .kt but preserves the same semantic suffix and source path. Suspension has the analogous .kt/name-prefix change. Their fingerprints/semantic hashes differ, so this does not prove which internal identity rule failed.
These underlying product defects are real and remain tracked in GeckoCV issue49; no finding is dismissed as a false positive. No orphan unknown projection or provider reconciliation failure was established here. Please determine whether the existing durable/semantic matching correction covers this input normalization case before creating a separate implementation item. No upstream branch, release or deployment is requested by this report.
