+ menu: repeated icons, mixed New/Create/Add verbs, uneven subtitles, 'Create group chat' vs 'Face-to-face group' unclear, DSH jargon; Bot menu has both Rename Bot and Edit Bot #385

Summary

The top + menu (New…) is hard to scan: three rows share the same people icon, two share the + icon, the verbs are mixed (New / Create / Add), subtitles are uneven, and two group entries are hard to tell apart. A Bot's right-click menu has two overlapping entries (Rename Bot and Edit Bot).

Environment

• FlyBot main 6d04db6682fa87033e58a176121f878b3ba293ce (About FlyBot describes FlyBot: its repository, stars, links, build and update text #375), core + plugins/social + plugins/tree on @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.2.0-rc.2, Node 24.
• Two fresh installs on one Linux box: A :3090 (owner SelfA0023, @selfa0023.home, own Bots Chief + Scratch) and B :3091 (owner SelfB0023, @selfb0023.home, own Bots Chief + Helper). Bot Social prod https://47-80-69-220.sslip.io.
• Setup: A made an invite for A's Chief, B joined it with B's Chief. Then B made an invite for Helper, A joined it with A's Chief. So A sees friend's Bot Helper, B sees friend's Bot Chief (A's).
• Product self-test, focus D (Social list and + menu), 2026-10-19 00:23–00:35 Asia/Shanghai. Screenshots stayed on the test machine; what they show is written out below.

Repro

1. On A, click the top + (New…) in the sidebar and read the rows.
2. Close it. Right-click own Chief in the sidebar and read the menu. Right-click the friend's Bot Helper and compare.

Actual

+ menu, top to bottom (icon, label, subtitle):

• Three rows use the same people icon and two use the same + icon, so icons do not help tell rows apart.
• Create group chat and Face-to-face group read like the same thing. The difference (my Bots in a chat vs. meeting people nearby with a 6-digit number) is only in one long subtitle.
• Verbs are mixed: New chat, Create new Bot, Create group chat, Add friend, Add coding agent; Face-to-face group has no verb.
• Subtitles are on three rows out of six, of very different length, one ends without a period.
• A plain DSH session, not a Bot uses internal jargon ("DSH session").

Own Bot right-click menu (Chief): Mark as Unread, Rename Bot, Edit Bot, Duplicate, Copy invite link, Copy conversation ID.

• Rename Bot and Edit Bot overlap: the name is also edited in Edit Bot.
• The Edit Bot / Bot settings gear on sidebar rows appears only on hover (consistent for own and friend rows since fix(ui): show hover gear on own Bot sidebar rows too #298, but undiscoverable on touch and for new users; the right-click menu is the only other way in).
• The friend's Bot menu (Mark as Unread, Bot settings, Copy conversation ID) is fine.

Expected (one top +, simplicity, consistency, short click paths, English only)

• Distinct icons per row (e.g. chat bubble, new Bot, group, nearby/handshake, add person, terminal).
• One verb style for all rows, e.g. New chat, New Bot, New group chat, Face-to-face room, Add friend, Add coding agent (or all Create … / Add … consistently).
• Either every row has a short one-line subtitle or none does. If kept, one short line each, ending the same way, e.g. Chat with your Bots together vs Meet people nearby with a 6-digit code.
• No internal jargon in the UI: replace A plain DSH session, not a Bot with plain words (e.g. A coding session without a Bot).
• Bot right-click menu: drop Rename Bot (or make it open Edit Bot with the name focused), so there is one way to edit a Bot. Keep the menu short.
